All thesmall spokes are cut so as to be very narrow in the center and widenout towards the edge. They are placed across each other in a circle, held firmly, and bound with three or four rows of simple web weav-ing. Then using twined weaving the spokes are covered as much asrequired. The diagonal mat weave basket in the left corner is made as is theone described elsewhere. Two colors of splints are used and thehandles are of plaited sweet grass, sewed with strong thread to thesides. The square basket is simple mat weave for the bottom, and webweave for the sides and top, the edges being strengthened by turningin the foundation spokes, then binding strong splints around the rims.
