Summary[edit]
DescriptionHouse overlooking Ballintoy - geograph.org.uk - 54364.jpg |
English: House overlooking Ballintoy. Bendhu is the last house on the right, overlooking the sandy cove on the winding road down to Ballintoy. This eccentric, original and intriguing house was the creation of Newton Penprase who originated from Cornwall. The house was started in 1936 and he continued working at it long after his retirement in 1953 but unfortunately he didn't finish building his dream home before he died in 1978. This unconventional design by this eccentric Cornish man was built from materials around him on the coast. Bendhu House is on a perfect site to view this beautiful coastline and has no fewer than fifty windows so the view can be appreciated at all times. Lorna and Michael Ferguson who took over from where Newton left off and put the finishing touches to Bendhu House. |
