Summary[edit]

Description View of the rising concrete monoliths (foreground) that will become the Folsom Dam auxiliary spillway at the construction site in Folsom, Calif., Oct. 19, 2012. The concrete used for the construction of the auxiliary spillway is processed on location at the processing plant (upper right). The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, the Central Valley Flood Protection Board, and the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, are building the spillway to improve the safety of the existing dam and reduce flood risk for the greater Sacramento area.
