Português: Entrar no Hotel Municipal de Araraquara é fazer uma viagem no tempo, é voltar para o início do século XX, quando a cidade era movida à café e os trens da antiga Estação Ferroviária de Araraquara (EFA) eram os principais meios de transporte para os grandes compradores do produto.
Com traços arquitetônicos requintados e colunas no estilo neoclássico, o hotel inaugurado em 1919 chama a atenção até os dias de hoje. Totalmente restaurado, o prédio mantém as antigas escadarias de mármore, as vidraças trabalhadas e os requintados lustres daquela época. Mais que um simples hotel, o Municipal fez parte da construção de uma nova Araraquara. NOVA ARARAQUARA ! Com a imagem manchada, após o linchamento dos Britos, no final do século XIX, e o triste apelido recebido de linchaquara, os grandes fazendeiros do café se uniram com o intuito de redesenhar a cidade. Estes empresários se cotizaram, arquitetos foram chamados e a cidade ganhou uma nova forma, com ruas bem traçadas e prédios imponentes. "O Centro foi todo planejado e a ideia era ter um hotel bonito, em boas condições para poder receber aqueles que vinham fazer negócios na cidade", conta o historiador Hamilton Mendes. A cidade que conhecemos hoje foi desenhada entre os anos de 1906 e 1930, a partir da construção da Câmara, da escola Mackenzie (atual Casa da Cultura), do teatro (atual prefeitura), a antiga sede social do Clube Araraquarense (atual museu de artes) e o Hotel Municipal. |
