Summary[edit]

Description
English: Sign on the southwest corner of the driveway and the parking lot leading to the NRHP-listed Horton Point Lighthouse. The parking lot is located at the north end of Lighthouse Road off the Long Island Sound in Southold, New York. The sign claims the lighthouse was commissioned by George Washington, but it wasn't built until 1857, which was 58 years after his death. The lighthouse and parking lot are within Town of Southold parkland, and a small picnic table can be found along the north side of the driveway. Taken on a severely windy day on the east end of Long Island.
