House decorated for Carnival 2021, Gretna, Louisiana

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Flower- and bee-themed decorations usually mounted on parade floats for the annual Mardi Gras celebration instead are land-bound here, outisde a home called the "Honey House" for the occasion in Gretna, a small, mostly working-class city in Jefferson Parish on the West Bank, or west side, of the Mississippi River, near New Orleans. (Louisiana calls its counties "parishes."). This occurred during the year 2020 because the spead of the Covid-19 coronavirus in south Louisiana prompted officials to cancel the parades, which attract throngs of closely bunched revelers.
