Summary[edit]

Description
English: This is a 1964 reconstruction of the Oliveros House, built of Coquina stone during the Second Spanish Period by Sebastian de Oliveros, circa 1798. The house was built on the site of three earlier wooden and tabby structures dating to the First Spanish Period and British period by Sebastian de Oliveros, a Corsican sailor, whom had originally lived in St. Augustine starting in 1733, and was a victim of piracy, which cost him his life in 1804. The house stood until 1908, when it was replaced with a commercial structure, which was demolished in 1964 to allow for the previous house to be rebuilt on the site. The house was reconstructed as part of an effort to restore the colonial appearance of the city by the Historic St. Augustine Preservation Board, which reconstructed several other houses and structures from the colonial period during the 1960s and 1970s.
