Summary[edit]
DescriptionHistoric Scotland notice, Carnasserie Castle - geograph.org.uk - 986458.jpg |
English: Historic Scotland notice, Carnasserie Castle "This late 16th century castle of unusual plan consists of a tower and adjoining contemporary wing which contained the hall.
The defences are both for security and for show. A courtyard originally extended to the west and south. The castle was the home of John Carsewell, Bishop of the Isles, who translated Knox's liturgy into Gaelic in 1567, and may have been built by him. It was captured and partly blown up in 1685." |
