ORATORICAL CONTEST One of the most important partsof the Commencement exercises lastyear was the Bates Prize OratoricalContest. The prize for this contestwas given by Rev. W. H. Bates, D.D. in 1917. The class of 19 was the first tocontend for this prize. Last yearthere were six excellent orations de-livered by as many Seniors. Thenumber of participants is small asonly the members of the graduatingclass are eligible.
