Summary[edit]

Description
English: This is an oil filled, pipe type underground feeder cable, carrying 230,000 volts (230 kV) via 2500 MCM cable. These were the cables that supplied power from the more recent third powerhose. These underground cables were less efficent and are now being replaced by new overhead lines.

A digression - A circular mil is a unit of area, equal to the area of a circle with a diameter of one mil (one thousandth of an inch). This cable is 2500 MCM which is 2,500,000 circular mils which is 2.5 inches in diameter

"Grand Coulee Dam is a gravity dam on the Columbia River in the U.S. state of Washington built to produce hydroelectric power and provide irrigation. It was constructed between 1933 and 1942... . It is the largest electric power-producing facility in the United States and one of the largest concrete structures in the world". While we were at Lake Chelan, we did a very good road trip over to Grand Coulee Dam (and then on to Steamboat Rock and up into the Okanogan area of North Central Washington.
