Deutsch: Schlagball: Hermann Hoser: Schlagball – Das deutsche Schlagballspiel, Reihe Miniatur-Bibliothek für Sport und Spiel, 72 Seiten mit 33 Abbildungen, 6. bis 10. Tausend, Verlag Grethlein & Co., Gustav Altenburg Verlag, Leipzig und Zürich (o. J., etwa nach 1910) Titel und Abbildungen zum Spielfeld, zu den Schlaghölzern und zur Geschichte des Spiels.
Die Abbildung von Seite 13 ist bezeichnet: Aus Strutt ‚Sports and pastimes‘ (‚club-ball‘). Hier wird in Kurzform der Titel eines Werks von Joseph Strutt, einem englischen Grafiker und Autor (1749-1802) erwähnt: Glig Gamena Angel Deod, Or, Sports and Pastimes of the People of England. Digitalisat Es erschien 1801. Die bei Hoser reproduzierte Grafik scheint eine eher mittelalterliche oder aus der Renaissance stammende Darstellung eines Schlagballspiels zu sein, das Strutt Club-Ball nennt. Dies wird in der digitalisierten Auflage bestätigt, in der im Titel steht Engravings selected from ancient paintings. Plate VIII (nach S. 96) zeigt die im Hoserschen Werk reproduzierte Grafik, d. h. sie ist nicht reproduziert, sondern nachgezeichnet, die beiden Figuren stehen näher beieinander als im Rutt’schen Werk.
