Nederlands: Projectie van het Ψ-oppervlak van een mengsel op het grondvlak. De gekromde lijn geeft de randen aan van de plooi zoals die in speciale omstandigheden in het oppervlak voorkomt. Bij elkaar horende punten van vloeistof- en damptak van het mengsel zijn via rechte lijnen met elkaar verbonden. c is het kritische punt. Mengsels die tussen c en c' vallen, vertonen bij samenpersen het in 1892 door Johan Kuenen ontdekte verschijnsel retrograde condensatie: de hoeveelheid vloeistof in de proefbuis met het mengsel neemt aanvankelijk toe, maar bij nog verder samenpersen verdwijnt de vloeistof.
English: Projection of the oppervlak surface of a mixture on the base. The curved line indicates the edges of the fold as it occurs in the surface under special circumstances. Associated points of liquid and vapor branch of the mixture are connected to each other via straight lines. c is the critical point. Mixtures falling between c and c 'show the phenomenon retrograde condensation discovered by Johan Kuenen in 1892: the amount of liquid in the test tube with the mixture initially increases, but with further compression the liquid disappears.
