Description |
Natuurkundig Laboratorium, Steenschuur, Leiden. (Bijschrift uit de bron.) English: Floor plan of the Physics Laboratory, including the extensions from the period 1890-1904. The rooms A (professor's room) through 1 (vibration-free magnetic room) formed the ground floor of the main building after the renovation of 1883-1885. > The cryogenic laboratory started in room E with the installations for liquid oxygen and air. The hydrogen liquid factor came in Aa, the helium liquid factor in E '. C, G and H were in use for optical experiments (the Lorentz series) until around 1900. The other rooms offered space for workplaces (including glassmaking workshop U) and machines. Forge and gas engine were in J, location for theoretical physics from 1906. On the first floor of the main building (Q and M) was the practical (practicum) for younger students. The chemistry wing is not indicated, but the contours of the anatomy wing (across the main building) and the physiology laboratory.
