| Description |
English: Heads on Cloth Hall Mills, Foundry Street, Dewsbury Dated 1874, this is more like a warehouse or office building than a mill. Mungo was made here in 1907 (on OS map). This is similar to shoddy, and was made from waste wool and shredded old clothes. The mill was built by the Machell brothers on the site of the unsuccessful Cloth Hall, which had been built in 1837. Two of the heads, the ones nearest to the door, are of Robert Fletcher Machell and William Machell. The head on the right is Disraeli and on the left (Richard?) Cobden. |
