Description
English: Head of Girl. From the Royal Prussian Collection. Clay, 30 - 1 BC. This simple clay portrait of a young girl stands in the tradition of the central Italic Republican portraiyals going back to the Etruscans. However, the braided hairstyle in the neck is in the fashion of the early Augstan time. Traces of colour allow for the assumption that the head originally was painted.
Français : Portrait de jeune fille. Collection royale de Prusse. Terre cuite, échelle grandeur, ou grandeur nature. Italie centrale ( ?), 30-1 av. notre ère. Ce portrait simple, en terre cuite, d'une jeune fille se situe dans la tradition des portraits de l’Italie du centre, remontant aux Étrusques jusqu’aux portraits républicains. Cependant, la petite tresse dans le cou est à la mode des premiers temps d’Auguste. Des traces de couleur permettent de supposer que la tête, à l'origine, a été peinte.
