Description
English: Despite the fact we need glucose, as one of the main body's fuels,

cancer cells are addicted to glucose, and cannot survive for a long time without it. As shown in this experiment, cultured HeLa cancer cells cannot survive, after 24 hours, without glucose. Most of the cells died and the remaining are dying.

Cancer cells, very effectively, use glucose through anaplerotic biochemical reactions. Through anaplerosis, cancer cells funnel glucose to be used as building blocks for the cancer cell's fatty acid, cholesterol, amino acids, and DNA synthesis, during the cancer cell's growth and proliferation.
