English: Hat box (post-WW1) belonging to 22-74 sister Mary Eleanor Baring Gould, NZANS, WW1 Semi-circular, canvas-covered cardboard hatbox; light brown- khaki with leather-bound edges and rear leather hinge; red cotton lining intact; leather handle attached to front with metal fastenings; external and internal fabric water - liquid stained, leather worn and cracked fastenings- metal tongue lock (CAPITOL BRAND) on centre front; leather strap and buckle fastening on either side, one strap missing
