Description

The photograph depicts Cleveland police officer Harrison Harney in 1922, his first year of service in a 36-year career with the Cleveland Police Department. Harney was promoted to detective in 1924, making him the first African American detective on the Cleveland force. Harney was a member of the homicide unit from its inception in 1926.
