The corporal fell tothe ground and the enemy continued to fire on thewounded man. This peeved Private Devereaux, whosprinted across the open and single handed attackedand put out of action that machine-gun. Devereauxis one of the hunters who won the DistinguishedService Cross and the Croix de Guerre with gilt star. (193)
