Author Jose Rizal

Jose Rizal, the author of Noli Me Tangere, died in 1896. All his works are now public domain based on Republic Act No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines which took effect on January 1, 1998. The translation was commissioned by the government in 1961 and according to Section 176 of Republic Act 8293, no copyright shall be applied in any work of the Government of the Philippines.
