Description

A wolf disguised as a shepherd herds a herd of sheep. The shepherd is attacked by his own dogs, tearing his cloak and showing his wolf's paws. His men, called mercenaries, abuse their position and slaughter and eat the sheep. Below the performance a verse in Dutch and French and references to various Bible verses.

Print published in Antwerp by Willem van Haecht who also composed the text. Design by Marten van Cleve engraved by Hans Bol.
