English: Hand Water-pump A label on the pump states,:- "The gift of Alexander McLeod, Esq., to the inhabitants of Blackness, his native village, 1875".
Now with clean running water available on tap in every home it may be hard to appreciate just how important and generous was this gift and its contribution toward improving public health. Preserving this now piece of street furniture should serve as a useful reminder. |
