English: Command Sgt. Maj. Michael Green, the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division command sergeant major, sat down with Soldiers, April 24, at Kelley Hill's Truscott Center. Green hosted a Hammer 7 town hall meeting, which was open to every Soldier within the Sledgehammer Brigade, and provided them the opportunity to address any concerns or questions they had. Soldiers seemed to be most curious about the reasoning behind the recently-extended physical training hours from 7:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. "So you form up, get accountability, salute the flag and sing the division song. About what time do you think you actually start PT?" he asked. The Soldiers shouted out various answers. "About 6:50, right? About what time do you think most Soldiers begin their cool down? Probably about 7:15. So, how much time are you really devoting to a good physical training program? About 25, 30 minutes." Green said extending physical training hours by 15 minutes gives Soldiers more time to conduct a more comprehensive physical readiness training plan. "I believe that units with physically fit Soldiers have less problems within their organization, because someone who takes pride in their fitness and appearance, will take pride in every aspect of their profession," said Green. |
