| Description |
English: Halberton: footbridge over Grand Western Canal. Adjoining the car park at the Tiverton Road Bridge. The footbridge is recent and dates from 2002. The canal and towpath here are maintained by Devon County Council as a leisure facility. The car park was originally a stone crushing yard. Stone was shipped by barge from a quarry eight miles away at Whipcott. Here a stone cracking machine powered by a traction engine reduced the stone to small grades for road maintenance and other purposes |
