HMAS Hobart gunners relax after a fire mission

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Gun crew members Leading Seaman D K Filgate, R58649 and Able Seaman K V Needham, R59922 stand down after action stations in the Gulf of Tonkin. They are relaxing amid empty shell cases in the Mount 51 space after their turret had engaged North Vietnamese targets ashore. These shells were fired at coastal defence batteries after the ship had been fired upon. The Guided Missile Destroyer HMAS Hobart was on its first deployment.
