Deutsch: Johannes Wilhelm wurde am 14. März 1899 als Sohn des Kaufmannes Heinrich Sievers geboren.er besuchte das Realgymnasium des Katharineums von Ostern 1905 bis Ostern 1916und trat dann bald in die Vorbereitungsanstalt für Militärpersonen in Berlin, wo er im August das Fähnrichsexamen bestand.
Bereits in Lübeck war er begeistertes Mitglied der Jugendwehr wo sich schon früh seine Begabung für die soldatische Laufbahn zeigte und er gleichzeitig Gelegenheit fand, seinen von Haus aus zarten Körper gegen die Anstrengungen des Dienstes abzuhärten, denen er später im Krieg und der Garnison ausgesetzt war, und die er mit großer Willenskraft glücklich überwinden konnte. Als Fahnenjunker trat er beim I. Ersatz-Bataillon des 1. Hanseatischen Infanterie-Regiments „Bremen“ in Bremen ein und wurde, nachdem er bald zum Gefreiten befördert worden war, zu einem Fahnenjunkerkurs nach Döberitz befohlen, um jetzt das Ziel des Kursus zu erreichen, indem er am 14. März 1918 an seinem Geburtstag, daselbst zum Fähnrich befördert wurde. Am 5. April 1918 rückte er erstmals ins Feld, diesmal als Fähnrich und Führer eines Transportes, wo er seine Eigenschaften als Vorgesetzter zeigte, welche ihn zur baldigen Beförderung zum Leutnant berechtigen sollten. Dies war ihm jedoch nicht mehr vergönnt. Am 1. Juni 1918 traf ihn, der bereits zum Zugführer des 2. Zuges ernannt worden war, und sechs Kameraden eine feindliche Granate. Der schweren Verwundung erlag er am Folgetag. Als sein Schwager Paul Brehmer kurze Zeit vorher gefallen war, schrieb er seiner Schwester: „Dulce et decorum est, pro patria mori“ Er wurde mit militärischen Ehren auf dem Kirchhof von Beugny beerdigt. |
