Description
English: Three post-medieval/modern gun-flints from a flintlock musket dating from AD 1650 - 1850. The flints are rectangular in plan and trapezoid in cross-section, one face sloping more shallowly. The edge of this longer side has a notch in the centre on two of the examples. The flint is dark-grey in colour.

A. 34.1mm long, 31.2mm wide and 8.9mm thick. 14.33g.
B. 34.5mm long, 28.8mm wide and 10.6mm thick. 14.94g.
C. 32.4mm long, 30.3mm wide and 11.4mm thick. 15.30g.

Compare LVPL-5C5593. Alistair Willis (FLO, pers comm) adds that flintlock muskets were invented in the early 17th centuyr, but were not widely used until about AD 1650.
