Summary[edit]

Description

Looking across to the other side of the narrow Jiu Qu Quiao zig zag bridge for a change, in the old town district of Shanghai, one cannot miss this beautiful statue of Guanyin, the Taoist goddess of mercy. Also referred as Kuan Yim or Guan Yin, Guanyin is greatly revered especially by seafarers who pray to her for mercy and protection when they are out at sea. I've covered Guanyin in great detail in many of my earlier albums from other places, so shall spare you the commentary. And my guide Jen didn't get me this time- the geese you see across the pool are real! Notes about the old town district of Shanghai and the bridge appear in detail in previous captions.
