Summary[edit]

Description
English: Ground nesting Fulmar. Although Fulmars normally nest on cliffs, on North Ronaldsay they nest at the base of the sheep dyke alongside the beach. Their unpleasant habits in defending their nesting sites (they spit out foul-smelling goo) are an unexpected hazard at ground level.
