Deutsch: „Das Stadtwappen zeigt im blauen Schild eine mit Zinnen versehene silberne Mauer, auf der drei Türme mit roten Dächern stehen. In der schwarzen Toröffnung ist ein schräggelehntes goldenes Schildchen angeordnet, darin ein aufrechter, von sieben roten Herzen umgebener blauer Löwe. Auf dem Schild befindet sich ein blau-weiß bewulsteter Helm mit außen blauer und innen silberner Helmdecke. Auf ihm stehen zwei mit der Spitze aufgerichtete, mit der Schneide einwärts gekehrte und am Rücken mit grünen Pfauenspiegeln besteckte, auswärts geneigte silberne Sicheln mit roten Griffen.“

Object history
Deutsch: Schon die Mutterstadt Celles, Altencelle, hatte das heutige Stadtwappen in ihren wesentlichen Teilen im Jahre 1288, wobei sich die Helmzier schon mit Sicheln und Pfauenfedern direkt auf dem Löwenschild im Tor befand. Die Mauer wurde von zwei Türmen flankiert. Bereits 1579, im Wappen am Nordgiebel des Rathauses, ist die Helmzier von dem kleinen Schild im Tor auf den großen Schild gewandert und ist mit kleineren Abweichungen in dieser Form bis heute gültig.
