Summary[edit]

Description
English: Lucilia, or the Green Bottle fly resting on the flower of a domestic sage brush in Chicago. These beautiful flies feed on bacteria. Their larva are used for maggot therapy because they will consume dead tissue and leave healthy tissue untouched. Their colonies can be used in forensics to help determine a date of death. Because they often visit faeces, they can serve as mechanical vectors for diseases.
