English: Great Black-backed Gull (Larus marinus), Uyeasound The black on the bill and the brown in the wing indicate that this bird is not quite mature; it is probably 4 years old. Great Black-backed Gulls (GBBs or Geebs to birders) are a common sight throughout Shetland all year round. Although large flocks may come inshore following strong winds, small numbers, often pairs, frequent beaches and headlands throughout the winter. |
