Summary[edit]

Description
English: Grand Canyon.
(View from Yavapai Point, South Rim, approx. north-northeast(?) view.) The close-up ridgeline shows the 4-units of the red, eroded, bedded en:Supai Group, called en:red beds-(cliffs, slopes, bedded cliffs, slopes, (resistant cliffs)-4-Esplanade Sandstone, then 3-Wescogame, 2-Manakacha, and 1-Watahomigi Formations. Below (the Supai Group), the tall Redwall cliff-(500 to 600-ft) at the close-up base, a shorter cliff of Muav Limestone-(~150-ft), then slopes of Bright Angel Shale. The unit below the Muav, is in the distance on Granite Gorge, (highly resistant) and short cliffs of the en:Tapeats Sandstone-(which is the base of the mostly horizontal Tonto Platform (en:Tonto Group members). The en:Tonto Trail lies on the Tonto Platform.
