Summary[edit]

Description

The Bureau of Chemistry undertook a “dust explosion and fire prevention” project following a disastrous feed-dust explosion in Buffalo in 1913. With the cooperation of granary and other factory operators, insurance underwriters, engineers, and fire-fighters, by 1920, when the formal program ended, the number of dust related explosions had dropped to a “trifling” level.
