Title
Government Receving Home For Female Immigrants, Charles Street, Norwood
Description
This buiding was used as the Government Receving Home For Female Immigrants between 1913 and 1915 inclusively. It was located at 5 Charles Street Norwood. It was on the western side of Charles Street, on the corner with Montrose Avenue. The photograph shows immigrant women from this period. These women may have been destined for domestic service. 'The Adelaide Chronicle' of 28 June 1913 has the same photograph under the caption 'Domestic Helpers' Home', which may have been an unofficial term for the Government Receving Home For Female Immigrants.
