Description
English: Backside of the "loading station" near Dannenberg, district Lüchow-Dannenberg (Germany). In the building, there is a special crane to be the "Castor" containers – or containers of highly radioactive nuclear waste from other construction – transferred from the railway to lorries. (Before that they were brought here by train from the reprocessing plant at La Hague, France). From Dannenberg, the lorries are driven about 20 kilometers over country roads and pass through villages to the interim storage facility for German highly radioactive nuclear waste near Gorleben. The twelfth "Castor" transport since 1995, consisting of eleven other nuclear waste containers, has reached Gorleben in November 2010. This increased the number of containers at the intermediate storage to 102. The transport was accompanied by massive protests of the local population and anti-nuclear activists from all over Germany, so it had to be enforced by 21,000 police officers.
Deutsch: Rückseite des "Verladebahnhofs" bei Dannenberg im Landkreis Lüchow-Dannenberg. In dem Gebäude befindet sich ein Spezialkran, mit dem "Castor"-Behälter – oder gelegentlich auch Behälter anderer Bauart für hochradioaktiven Atommüll – von der hier endenden Eisenbahn auf LKW umgeladen werden. (Die gesamte Anlage dient ausschließlich diesem einen Zweck – der normale Bahnverkehr endet/beginnt weiter westlich am Bahnhof Dannenberg-Ost.) Zuvor wurden die Castoren per Zug von der Wiederaufbereitungsanlage im französischen La Hague hierher gebracht. Von Dannenberg fahren die Spezial-Tieflader noch 20 Kilometer über Landstraßen und durch Dörfer bis zum Zwischenlager Gorleben. (Die Südroute über Splietau, Klein und Groß Gusborn, Grippel/Pretzetze/Laase und Gorleben ist ca. 19,6 km lang, die Nordroute über Seybruch, Quickborn, Kacherien/Langendorf, Grippel/Pretzetze/Laase und Gorleben ca. 20,5 km. Beim jüngsten Straßentransport im November 2010 wurde die Nordroute genutzt.) Der zwölfte "Castor"-Transport seit 1995, bestehend aus elf weiteren Atommüllcontainern, erreichte im November 2010 unter massiven Protesten der Bevölkerung und von Atomkraftgegnern aus ganz Deutschland die Lagerhalle bei Gorleben. Dieser Transport musste von 21.000 Polizisten durchgesetzt werden. Dadurch erhöhte sich die Anzahl der dort zwischengelagerten Container auf jetzt 102 Stück.
