Description

AD 1-79.

Gold.

Pompeii, Italy.

Donated by Mrs. Marion Whiteford Acworth JP.

British Museum.

Connected to a story that Messalina sent men to kill Nero as he was a rising star and threat to Britannicus, they were apparently scared off by snakes in his room. Nero denied the story but started wearing a gold bracelet encasing a snakeskin he had found in his bedroom.
