A blue glowing bioluminescent bug

| Description |
English: A bioluminescent bug. We found this bug during a night expedition in the Amazon rainforest, while looking for bioluminescence. It had a bright blue glow to it. It is remarkable, because blue bioluminescence is extremely rare in land organisms, only found in one other species, in South America. The bug was killed by a little spider, as we tried to capture it. The bug might be a whole new species, yet unknown to science. Night expedition was a part of a volunteering programme at IPBio, (Instituto de pesquisas da biodiversidade).
Eesti: Leidsime putuka Amazonase vihmametsast, ööekspeditsioonilt. Otsisime bioluminestsentsi ning leidsime eresiniselt helendava putuka. See on eriline, sest sinine bioluminestsents on äärmiselt haruldane maismaal. Lõuna-Ameerikas on hetkel ainult 1 liik, kes seda teeb. Putukat kinni püüdes tappis ta üks väike ämblik. See putukas võib olla täiesti uus liik, mida keegi varem kirjeldanud pole. |
