Description
English: This week’s photograph is of the Globe Inn Public House, Ladygate, Beverley, c.1910.
Situated behind the pub, was Globe Inn yard, which was entered through the archway from Ladygate as you can see in the picture. At one time it contained many small houses. The yard was owned by the landlord and was used for the Beverley pig market during the middle of the 19th century, as well as a cock pit where locals would have gambled on cock fights.

The pub was closed in 1963 and demolished in 1968 to allow a road link between Sow Hill and Walkergate. A glazed door from the demolition is now preserved in the kitchen of a Keldgate House.
Houses in Globe Court and Globe Mews now occupy the original site.
