Summary[edit]
DescriptionGlencoul Thrust - geograph.org.uk - 823646.jpg |
English: Glencoul Thrust The Glencoul Thrust is a very prominent feature when viewed from above Unapool on the south-west side of Loch Glencoul. Here, we are close to the point where the thrust plane disappears beneath the sea. Older Lewisian gneiss, normally the lowest rock in the succession, has been thrust over younger Cambrian quartzite, Fucoid Beds and Salterella Grit, so that the succession is repeated, with the same rocks both below and above the thrust. |
