Description |
English: Tall leafy trees with just a hint of fall color tower over a group of picnic tables. Glen Echo Park-Clara Barton House. The large historic and specimen trees provide shade in the Picnic Grove section of Glen Echo Park. When the Baltzley brothers began to develop the land, the site was wooded. They made an effort to preserve as much of this vegetation as possible in order to achieve the desired picturesque setting. The Picnic Grove, which dates to 1908 at the latest, was established as a large and shady area of the park under the mature trees. These are the only trees that qualify as historic because they are essential to the character of the Picnic Grove.
