Summary[edit]

Description
English: Glasshouse Wood south-east of the A46 On the right is a lonesome Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), an endearingly tall shaggy conifer with soft curled foliage, buds like beech, and pointed cones with three-pronged bracts protruding from below the scales. Popularly named after the renowned plant-hunter David Douglas but discovered by the less well-known but equally adventurous Archibald Menzies.
