Summary

[edit]
Description Aerial view of the Glass Breakwater, which was constructed by the 76th U.S. Naval Construction Battalion immediately after the Second World War on Guam. Glass Breakwater provided a protected harbour for the heavy traffic of American vessels that traveled to Guam as part of the U.S. buildup of forces in the Pacific. It was named after Captain Henry Glass, commanding officer of the U.S. cruiser Charleston who, during the 1898 Spanish-American War, captured Guam from the Spanish.
