Summary[edit]
DescriptionGlacial tongues (7048837659).jpg |
These outstanding puddles of rock debris are terminal moraines from surge and retreat of small mountain glaciers east of Dexterity Fiord, northern Baffin Island. Late 1970s geology map showed ice-filled lobes on valley floor. Every rock puddle is a km or so across. It's all part of a gorgeous, extensive region of mountains, glaciers and fiords sweeping 1500 km from eastern Baffin Island to northern Ellesmere Island. The Innutian Orogeny is the remotest and least explored cordillera in North America. This regular sched flight was from Clyde River to Pond Inlet on a sunny day. |
