Summary[edit]

Description
English: Illustration by Poul Steffensen from the Danish novel Gjøngehøvdingen by Carit Etlar which takes place during and after the Dano-Swedish War in 1657-1658. Svend Poulsen, Gøngehøvdingen, who is disguised as a Swedish corporal has been pretending to show the way to Jungshoved Castle for Colonel Sparre and his horsemen. But Svend Poulsen has actually been leading them into a trap where the gønger has blocked the way. The horsemen tries to get over the barricade but the gønger drives them back with scythes and sharp weapons. The Swedish troops and the Danish gønger did indeed fight each other multiple times during the war but this story is fiction.
