Description
English: Girton Village Sign Information from the plaques:

Top: Design on a Roman belt discovered in a burial ground near Girton College. Centre: Based on the coat of arms of the Cotton family, Anne-Maria Cotton endowed the first Girton village school. Geese kept at Wash Pit provided quills used for writing in the University of Cambridge. Below: Corn Marigolds once common in the village. The cross of St. Andrew.

1985 The money for this sign was raised by Paul Clare and Michael Davies. Designed by Denis Cheason. Made by Barry Sharman. Erected by Ken Dench.
