Summary[edit]

Description

This Allparts-supplied bridge is made by Sung-il Hitech of South Korea. And it's a really nice bridge, too, fine quality, with very well-made saddles. Even slightly lighter than the original. I decided to use it because I think it's the best Tune-o-matic I've tried. But the adjusting nuts and cheap threaded posts were junk, and metric threaded anyway, so were tossed out. I'm using the originals anyway.

Retaining wires can buzz while playing, so the tip of a small Standard screwdriver was used to push/bend the wire down like a V between each saddle screw. Probably didn't need it, but I like knowing the wire's holdin' em down super tight.

Gibson ships their guitars with the saddle screws facing the pickup. But they're easier to adjust, and look nicer, if the screws face the tailpiece. And unless extra 'travel' is needed, the sloped side of all six saddles should face the tailpiece as well. That way the playing area of the strings is terminated by the straight edge of the saddles.

I like to use PC-based tuner software to help set the intonation, just for speed and accuracy. I used Supernifty's Audio Tuner 1.0 (freeware) to nail it.
