Summary[edit]

Description
English: Giant's Causeway The famous columns at the Giant's Causeway were formed from a flow of tholeiitic basalt about 60 million years ago. As the lava cooled, it contracted and cracked to form mainly hexagonal columns. The same process can be seen today - when mud dries out, it cracks into similar hexagonal shapes.
