Abends 10 Uhr riickte I 178 vom steilen Abhangeherunter in das brennende Dorf nordlich Dinant.Ein entsetzlich schaurig schoner Anblick. Gleich am Eingange lagen ca. 50 erschossene Burger,die meuchlings auf unsre Truppen gefeuert hatten. ImLaufe der Nacht wurden noch viele erschossen, sodasswir iiber 200 zahlen konnten. Frauen und Kinder,die Lampe in der Hand, mussten dem entzetzlichenSchauspiele zusehen. Wir assen dann immitten derLeichen unsern Reis, seit Morgen hatten wir nichtsgegessen. Beim Durchsuchen der Hauser, fanden wirviel Wein und Likor, aber keine Lebensmittel. Haupt-mann Hamann war betrunken.
