Description

The German helicopter Fletter Fl. 282 "Hummingbird" (Flettner Fl 282 Kolibri) at the US Air Force Base Freeman Field. Flettner Fl. The 282 was the first mass-produced helicopter in the world. The vehicle was mainly used in the Kriegsmarine, as a reconnaissance and artillery fire correction tool. Only 24 cars were produced, since the manufacturing plant in Munich was destroyed by the allied aviation.

After the war, aircraft designer Anton Flettner emigrated to the United States, where he continued his professional career as chief designer at Kaman Aircraft.
